Publication Process
Khazanah Madani: Pendidikan Islam implements a transparent, objective, and internationally recognized publication process to ensure the quality and integrity of the articles it publishes. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a series of evaluation and editorial stages before publication. The publication process begins with manuscript submission, where authors submit their manuscripts through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in accordance with the journal’s template and author guidelines. Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s focus and scope, complies with formatting requirements, meets academic quality standards, and fulfills publication ethics and administrative requirements. Manuscripts that do not satisfy these criteria may be rejected at this stage through a desk rejection decision.
Following the initial screening, all manuscripts undergo a similarity and plagiarism check using plagiarism-detection software. This step is intended to ensure the originality and academic integrity of the submitted work. Manuscripts that exceed the journal’s acceptable similarity threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected. Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary evaluation are then forwarded to at least two independent reviewers through a Double-Blind Peer Review process. Under this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential to ensure an impartial and objective evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on several criteria, including the originality and novelty of the research, relevance of the topic, methodological rigor, accuracy of data analysis, scientific contribution, adequacy and quality of references, and clarity of presentation.
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may issue one of several decisions: Accept Submission, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Resubmit for Review, or Reject Submission. The final decision regarding publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief, who considers both the reviewers’ evaluations and the journal’s editorial standards. When revisions are required, authors must address all reviewer and editor comments within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may undergo additional evaluation, and in some cases, they may be returned to the reviewers for further assessment to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed. Once the manuscript has successfully met all academic and editorial requirements, it receives final acceptance for publication.
After acceptance, the manuscript enters the copyediting stage, during which the editorial team reviews the text to improve language quality, ensure consistency in citations and references, verify compliance with journal formatting standards, and maintain accuracy in the use of scholarly and technical terminology. The manuscript then proceeds to layout editing and proofreading, where it is formatted according to the journal’s publication style. Authors are provided with a galley proof for final review and approval before publication.
Upon completion of all editorial and production processes, the article is published online in the appropriate issue of Khazanah Madani: Islamic Education and becomes freely accessible under the journal’s open-access policy. The average time required from manuscript submission to publication is approximately 4–12 weeks, depending on factors such as the duration of the peer-review process, the quality of the submitted manuscript, the timeliness of author revisions, and the availability of reviewers and editors.
